Spider-Man 2 Review

Here is a review of Spider-Man 2 (the game) for the PSP. This is based on the movie, but is only called Spider-Man 2. First, the good. The graphics are pretty good. Smooth, a lot of detail. Some of the cut scenes have incredible graphics. But those are once in a blue moon cut scenes. The gameplay is fun. More fun sometimes then other. The gameplay is kind of like the first movie game. The bosses are actually pretty challenging. Some more AI than others. But you can still just wrap them in web and call it a day. They still have the titorial, which is good. The controls are pretty good (sort of.) You have to use the new addition to the PSP, the analog stick. This can get hard. The stubby analog stick tends to make you finger go many ways because of the ultimate grip. You do get used to it over a while, but you still feel like you want the D-Pad to be used. The audio is ok. I mean the voiceovers are pretty well done. Ok, now I have to go to the bad presented by my brain. The thug's AI is horrible. They stand there. You smack them. Smackity, smackity, an occasional kick, maybe a punch. Then you wrap them in web and yell things to them like "oh, you want more?" (Spider-Man doesn't say that.) I did say that the controls were good, but I lied a little. They get frustrating. No cheats :-( . So this game has its ups and downs like all games, but it is just a game to play if you beat all of your other games. Or, if you are a Spider-Man fanboy. A 3 out of 5.
